Self Care Breeds Creativity

It's amazing what happens when you take care of yourself.

In 2017 I really let self care fall away. I started a new job, and with it gained a huge amount of responsibility. More responsibility than I've really ever had, so it's been a big adjustment. These new responsibilities really took over for awhile, which meant that the rest of my life suffered. Personally, creatively, emotionally... all around I suffered while I grew exponentially professionally, and got to know myself a bit more. I've learned a lot this past year from these experiences... one thing in particular is that if I don't prioritize my own self care I get a little bit (read: extremely) crabby.

A few weeks ago I started climbing out of my own personal 2017 rut. I got a great massage, spent some time with Molly, and shared the process of cooking my vegetarian dinners on my Instagram stories two nights in a row. Sharing on Messy Lemons, whether it was the blog, or Instagram, is a ton of fun for me. I find it satisfying to share things with people, and to craft a final image for posting. I've been exploring this relationships between self care, creativity and food, and what it all means to me. I'm not sure yet, but I know that I like sharing my dinner with the world. haha.

Realizing how good I felt after those two days really got me examining myself, including what my goals are. I'm feeling much more open to new experiences, and feeling really good about myself. I'm still working on some emotions with regards to making an impact, and sharing on social media, and maybe soon I'll put that into a post here.

Right now, I want to share more here and on the insta machine. I want to cook and bake more. I want to make more time for Curtis and I to spend genuine time together. All around, I want to do things that make me happy and force me to grow.
